Community Alliance for the Ethical Treatment of Youth (CAFETY) is a grassroots organization whose mission is to end the dehumanization of youth in residential programs.
The aim is to create substantive cultural, policy and legislative change for the purpose of increasing youth protection, ensuring accountability and increasing transparency of residential programs. Useful information about residential placement is available on their website.
CAFETY's Care NOT Coercion Campaign is made up of two programs: Our Voices Program and the Transparency Project.
OVP empowers current and former residential care residents and their allies by using the power of narrative to educate the public, government officials and industry stakeholders on the youth experience for the purpose of fostering a culture that affirms the human rights of youth.
TP conducts surveys of youth currently and formerly placed in residential programs, issues reports and recommendations that supports the work done by its local chapters.
